The development of the digital world can be connected to a few key individuals whose ideas still impact how we use technology today. Alan Turing created the foundation for modern computing by showing that machines could follow instructions and process information. Steve Jobs made computers more user-friendly and accessible, which helped bring them into everyday life. Tim Berners-Lee changed the way people communicate by inventing the World Wide Web. This  allowed information to be shared more quickly across the globe. Together these Gentlemen helped guide us into an era of unimaginable technological advances.

Digitization and technological development arose largely from the need to more efficiently process, store, and share information. This started as an early government project involving research institution. This is likely because the faster a government can share and send information among its ranks the easier it is for them to win a war or battle. Another reason is the progression of businesses and the global economy. As the technology advanced businesses used this as an opportunity to become more effiecient while using less manual labor (Think Microsoft Excel). As digitization progressed it made it easer to manipulate and distribute data at an unprecidented scale.

Although the development of technology and digitization happened over a long span and is currently still underway there are really two time periods that exploded the development. One of these times is in the mid-20th century during the cold war. The government invested significantly in technology specifically in areas like computing and communications. This can then be tied into the Silicon Valley entrepreneurship era which we are currnetly still in today. The Cold war really spurred the investment in these technologies and once humans saw how profitable they could be the sector exploded with new ideas.

The digital world we live in today does not come from a single invention but it was developed over time through new ideas, changing needs, and important historical events. From early theories about computing to the creation of global internet systems ( World Wide Web), each step shows how people worked to improve communication and technology systems. Reviewing this history helped me better understand the tools we use now and the people who created them. It also shows that innovation is still happening today, especially with things like artificial intelligence, and will continue to shape the future through creativity and collaboration.
